nature-based therapist: Tara Thorpe
in loving service to the healing and liberation of all beings
About me
As a therapist, I believe that every individual has an innate capacity for wisdom, healing, and wholeness. My role is to provide a safe and nonjudgmental space where clients feel supported and empowered to access their inner strengths. Guided by a deep commitment to unconditional positive regard, I focus on creating meaningful therapeutic connections that honor each client’s unique experiences and identity.
Life can feel overwhelming when you're carrying too much for too long. You may be navigating neurodivergent burnout, working to better understand yourself, moving through grief or change, or feeling stuck in patterns that no longer serve you… whatever brings you to therapy, I aim to offer a space where you don't have to perform, explain yourself perfectly, or have everything figured out. We can get curious together about what's happening beneath the surface and create space for growth, self-trust, and lasting change.
Growing up as a neurodivergent child, I experienced first-hand that healing is not one-size-fits-all. While traditional approaches didn't always meet my needs, I found comfort, regulation, and connection through my relationships with nature and animals. Those experiences continue to shape the way I practice today. I value offering flexible, trauma-informed approaches to therapy that recognize there is no single path to healing. Depending on your needs, this may include mindfulness-based practices, nature-informed interventions, walk-and-talk sessions, traditional office sessions, or telehealth. Together, we'll find an approach that feels supportive, accessible, and aligned with your goals
animals, compassion, nature, mindfulness, loving-kindness, healing, & wholeness.

Therapy is a very individual and complex process. You are always in the driver seat when it comes to the duration and intensity of your therapeutic journey. Generally, I would love to support you in addressing your goals and concerns in the shortest timeframe possible, but in the end it’s up to you how long we work together.

Sometimes therapy can activate very challenging and undesirable emotions, which can make us feel like we are going backwards, but I believe “the only way out is through”. In other words, we must gain the tools and resources necessary to expand our capacity for resilience and facing challenges head on. You will know therapy is working for you when your awareness about yourself increases, your reactivity to triggers lessens, you feel capable of motivating and regulating yourself, symptoms of concerns have decreased, and goals are achieved.

"We, coursing in the practices of a Bodhisattva, shall set going on their way to full enlightenment many hundreds of living beings, yea, many niyutas of kotis of living beings. We shall hold up perfect enlightenment to them, instigate, encourage and excite them to win it, help it to come forth, help them to get established in it, help them to become irreversible." - Sanskrit Aṣṭasāhasrikā Prajñāpāramitā sutra
